Christians awake, salute this happy midnight,
Whereon the Saviour of mankind was born.
Rise to adore this Mystery of goodness
Which hosts of angels sang on Christmas morn.
Hark, angels sing their lay of consolation
“To God on high be glory, peace on earth.”
Bow to the ground! ‘Tis the hour of our salvation!
Noel! Noel! ‘Tis the hour of Jesus’ birth;
Noel1 Noel! ‘tis the hour of Jesus birth!
To Bethlehem come, and kneel down by the manger,
To where the Holy Child Jesus is laid;
Rejected by his creatures as a stranger,
On sheaves of straw he makes his royal bed.
Come, let us bring our love, our adoration
To the Infant King, our Lord and God of all.
Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born;

O Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining.
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s  birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
